Ruby and I collected the equipment (camera, mic and tripod) from school and walked to Wells road where Mr Hansen met us. From here, I set up the camera, ensuring the white balance and exposure was correct, and we walked through the scene and blocked out where the scene would take us. I quickly realised that the sun was going to be an issue so we walked further down the road and changed the direction of the action to ensure the footage wouldn't be over exposed. Another issue was that i had to walk backwards in order to create a tracking shot of Ruby walking down the path and there was a risk that i could trip. To overcome this, Mr Hansen supported my back to ensure i didn't fall or walk off the path. Although some shots were out of focus due to the difficulty that comes with tracking shots, I repeated a lot of the same shots to allow myself to be able to switch between a few focused shots whilst editing.
Wednesday 6th March
Due to parents evening, Mr Hansen requested that we changed the shooting day to the 6th March and because of this change it day, his costume was forgotten. To overcome this we decided it would be just as appropriate for the kidnapper to wear a black trench coat and the special effects makeup allowed for the same desired effect to be created. Myself, Ruby and Mr Hansen met in the drama room at school and decided it would be more appropriate to film in the storage room over the medical room as they way less furniture to move. We had planned of filming both scene 4 and 5 but the camera began to run out of charge after filming scene 4 and i decided that i wanted to add something to Ruby's costume to ensure viewers new a long time had passed between the two scenes in the final short film. From here, Ruby and I scheduled another day to film that scene. The actual filming process of scene 4 went very smoothly and I captured a lot of shots which will add to the tension of the short film.
Monday 25th March
On this day, Ruby, Miss Watson and I met at 4pm outside the medical room. From here, i set up the camera and props whilst the two actors went over their lines. As I began to start filming, i realised that the mic wasn't picking up sound and i couldn't work out why. Due to this, we only filmed the opening of scene 1, despite planning on filming all of scene 1 and 3, because there is a lot of dialogue in these scenes and i didn't wasn't to risk having audio problems. After filming the opening, Miss Watson left and Ruby and I made our way to the other filming room to retry filming scene 5. This time, i brought eye shadow and a hairbrush to ensure Ruby's character, Grace, looked as if she'd been in the room for a long time. Filming this scene was very successful and there is no dialogue so the mic wasn't required. I have now scheduled to film the rest of scene 1 and 3 on Wednesday 27th.
Wednesday 27th March
Miss Watson, Ruby and I were supposed to film from 3:15 until 4:30 but due to a confusion in borrowing a microphone from the media suite, we didn't begin to film until 3:45. Due to this, we only managed to film one of the two scenes we intended to and have scheduled another filming session next Wednesday. The session of this day was highly successful as i got a large variety of shots for scene 1 which contains a large amount of dialogue.
Wednesday 3rd April
Miss Watson, Ruby and I met in the medical room and filmed the final scene which needed shooting, scene 3. I got a variety of shots however the microphone wasn't working properly so all the shots are filmed with only the microphone in the camera. Although the scene is very dialogue heavy, i hope to be able to edit all the sound in Final Cut Pro.
